Convention on the Rights of the Child
The Convention on the Rights of the Child obliges the signatory states to respect and ensure the rights of the child guaranteed by the Convention. In addition, it obliges them to ensure that the national legislation corresponds to the rights confirmed by the Convention. Everyone below the age of 18 years is a child.

Optional Protocols
Three Optional Protocols strengthen the Convention on the Rights of the Child: Protecting children in armed conflict, Protecting children from sale, and Allowing children to submit complaints, appeals and petitions.
UN Committee on the Rights of the Child
The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child monitors the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by the signatory states. The Committee issues general comments to support the implementation.

General comments of the UN Committee
The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child issues general comments to support the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. In them, the Committee interprets the rights guaranteed by the Convention.
Complaints to the UN Committee
A child or a group of children has the right to file a complaint to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, if a signatory state has violated the rights of children.
UN Committee decisions and statements
The Committee states its opinions on the complaints it investigates and issues recommendations based on them, if necessary.
