Contacting the Ombudsman for Children
The Ombudsman for Children makes use of the feedback and communications received by the Ombudsman in the Ombudsman's work to influence social decision-making. The Ombudsman can also raise issues that are important with regard to children’s rights that would be otherwise left unnoticed in social discussion and decision-making.
The Ombudsman for Children does not have the authority to resolve issues involving individual children or families, or to comment on or change decisions made by other authorities.
Appearance requests, invitations and media contacts
The Ombudsman for Children receives many invitations to various occasions in the course of the Ombudsman’s duties. Meeting and appearance requests to the Ombudsman for Children Pekkarinen should be addressed to the administrative assistant.
We ask all parties issuing an invitation to consider how the participation of the Ombudsman for Children in the event would promote the rights of children and include a brief statement of reasons with the invitation.
Citizen reports on the realisation of the rights of the child
The Office of the Ombudsman for Children welcomes information on the realisation of the rights of the child. The Ombudsman for Children uses this information in the Ombudsman's advocacy work. However, the Ombudsman for Children does not have the authority to resolve issues involving individual children or families, or to comment on or change decisions made by other authorities.
